The bumpy road down to being an MSP

This week, it my first encounter with the surprise life had to provide, commonly known as " A
series of unfortunate events” , and certainly I am not talking about the Jim Carrey starrer movie that goes by the same name  (though it is a good movie to watch) . So, I am now a bit richer with an ample amount of experience, and it is going off sales this summer, please visit with your students’ card for a special discount.

Monday was the day this week, when jingle bells were sounding all around me. After all, this was the day I convinced myself of my dreams and goals in life. Besides, participating in the most important program of my life with clothes completely soaked in rainwater yet hopes still held high doesn’t seem bad at all, and trust me, it in fact is fun. So, the day ended with my heart full of determination, but poor me, I was totally unaware of the week ahead. I was given a task of creating a video with an answer “How my college will benefit from me if I become an MSP?” and had to submit it by midnight of the next Monday. I planned for the video all day long, and I made plans even more than a few pages could accommodate. But I had decided to wait till Wednesday to observe the videos submitted by others participants so that I could make something unique and trust me, I totally didn’t know life had few spikes installed down my road to making the video. I had to shake my hands with a lot of illness and downsides at once, but I made the video and was almost ready for uploading, and something had to go wrong inside my head. My insight was yelling at me, telling me that I was doing well, but I had to try harder, and without even thinking, I started re-recording the video, capturing my sick body talk like a comedian in a standup comedy show, and that too almost at midnight. So, I started capturing my videos all again at almost 11 pm on the cold Friday night, and my health was not good at all. Diarrhea and flu, it doesn’t even sound good at all. I was almost done with capturing but then I had to sleep too, I was sick, remember? So, I finished capturing the videos in haste and then went on a date with my beloved bed. Hail the god of sleep who blessed me with a sound sleep (after almost half an hour of staring while lying in the bed).

I then put all my effort into my work, and tried to make the best out of it. I had started learning Adobe After Effects and Crazy Talk animator for making the video and still had to seek a lot of help from the internet, and had to stay awake till 4 in the morning today. So finally, my video was made, not an excellent one, but not bad for a starter lying on his bed. J . But wait, my struggle was not over, the video I produced was almost 18 GBs, thanks to After effects who still had something to trouble me with. I woke up at 8, and worked for almost an hour and finally made the video almost 10 MBs in size. But the quality of the video almost made me cry, because I had my hard work put up to make the video stand out and of good quality in one hand and had this compulsion to make it small in order to let everyone watch it in another, and guess what, I chose the later one, but still believe that my video stands out. So with fingers crossed and eyes sleepy, I am waiting for Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal to lend me a brush, so that I can polish myself and shine, and shine like a diamond in a ****. Ahum! Ahum! .

From Microsoft to MSP 2013/14

“As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big.” Donald Trump

A tree just doesn't fall from the sky and fill our baskets with delicious apples, but it doesn't take much effort either. We just need a seed and voila! Few minutes and we will be rich selling apples. But it holds only if we have graduated from  Hogwarts and can cast a “Herbivicus”  or a “Alohamora”  spell and own a flying carpet and a talking owl. And for the rest of the people who missed the train to Hogwarts and had to stick with other universities of our world, it needs a tiny seed, a tad big hole on the ground, a bigger will to make things happen, and way much bigger effort to turn a seed into numerous delicious apples that help us keep our doctor away.

I can remember the day  I first met Allen sir, in a program organized by MICNepal in our college, Nepal Engineering College. I was a technology enthusiast back then too, and I used a lot of Microsoft products daily ever since I got my first computer during school, but something new approached me the day Allen sir interacted with us. It was not because I received gift hamper being an active participant, nor was it because Allen sir cast a spell on me, it was because that was the day I realized that where I stood in terms of using and knowing technology was just a basement of the foundation I ever dreamt to reach on top of. That was the very day I told myself that I definitely am going to apply for being an MSP the next time. And that day was the day I started dreaming bigger.

“A clay pot sitting in the sun will always be a clay pot. It has to go through the white heat of the furnace to become porcelain”

Though I couldn't participate in the MSP program in the year 2012 due to my involvements in various projects and robotics , I was in frequent contact with the MSPs, and attended almost every program organized by MICNepal in our college. So, the year 2012 helped me increase my hunger towards being an MSP, and helped me polish myself better to being a better candidate as an MSP for the upcoming year. I participated in many  workshops and presentations organised by our IT club nec-CTRC , which I am an active member of, and workshops and national level robotics competition ‘Yantra1.0’ organized by RAN (Robotics Association Nepal) . I also participated as an exhibitor in exhibitions organized by Golden Gate Int’l College and Nobel college. Later in the year 2013, I got an opportunity to represent my college in an international event ‘Techkriti’13’ organized by IIT Kanpur, under the event Robogames, and it alone boosted my confidence and  knowledge level further. So I was busy trying to create a platform on whose grounds I could excel my career in the field of Information and Technology. I still had a lot left to accomplish and so I was waiting for my chance to apply for being an MSP, which is the solid platform everyone dreams of getting on. Despite sequel of exams and few other issues, I finally could apply for the MSP 2013/14 program, and I am now all prepared to take my life a step ahead as an MSP and I hope to get a chance to be a part of MICNepal team so that I can learn much more about technology and innovations, gain different skills and share them all with my colleagues and the students of my college. What i have targeted for upon being selected is that if I am going to be the MSP, I am going to try my best to make every student of my college equal to an MSP in terms of knowledge, and skills.
